iTunes: Mason Jennings: Forgiveness
Man, it has been awhile, no? I have been hiding indoors the last few months. It's been a pretty lousy winter here in Milwaukee. Can you believe we got 14 inches of snow on the second day of spring? What is up with that?
Anyway, regardless of the weather it is still spring cleaning time here at GTA. I've got a few boxes of stuff to clear out, so for a limited time I'm offering the Hey Mercedes unorchestrated EP for 5 bucks which includes domestic shipping charges anywhere in the USA for the month of April. You have until April 30th to place your order. This ain't no April fools joke, neither. Just trying to make some room!
Every order will come with assorted stickers and stuff I have lying around, so if you've been debating picking it up - do so soon! I've only got a few left, so if I run out, the sale will end and your money will be refunded. There is one little catch. It has to be done a special way: You must add ONLY the "outside USA shipping CD" to your cart. It is found at the very top of the Store page. This will add a total of $5 to your order. I will know what it is for and you will receive your EP and goodies in the mail within the week. Pretty sweet.
Anyways, there is some more exciting news around the corner. Check back soon for details!

iTunes: Seaweed: Clean Slate
Holy cow. Four months between blogs, what a sad state. I need to get back on the bandwagon for sure. There is nothing really going on over here though. It's been a boring few months with little to report. The only real news is that GTA is looking forward to New Ruins finishing their current record. They have been slaving away for months and I cannot wait to hear it. Hopefully we will get something together by them to release sometime soon, maybe early 2008?
Summer has come and gone. The Milwaukee weather is gray and the days are getting short. This time of year brings on my annual band reminisce and lately it's been Seaweed, one of my all-time favorites, and just in time too: I cannot believe I'm missing their re-union show dates. About this time every year I regress back to a past catalogue of an old favorite when the seasons change. It is usually due to the fact I'm completely bored with everything that is new and just want old nostalgic favorites playing that I know and love. It is partially due to my laziness in not wanting to do the legwork and find something new and fresh that I like that just came out. Maybe it has something to do with the Midwest weather in the fall? It can be a melancholy time of year, in a good way. In other news, many of you know I love the band Tiger Lou. It appears Rasmus and crew are working on a new record and that makes me happy. Here is a little sample demo posted on his website of a new song called "Coalitions". Exciting!

iTunes: Smashing Pumpkins: Stand Inside Your Love
I know it's been awhile, but I've been busy with 2 jobs and summer. But there is a lot going on. First off, there are a few GTA related items up on eBay this week right here. It seems people would much rather bid on stuff than buy direct from the online store, and that is cool by me. It's fun! Check them out if you are interested.
For those residing overseas, there are a few more shows left for The City On Film. He is not abroad very often, so try to catch him if you can. The remaining dates are with Owen and are listed on his myspace page here.
Australia look for The City On Film playing your country in August in support of the Australian version of In Formal Introduction released in the spring on Hobbledhoy Records.
Bob/The City On Film was also featured in The Magazine (online) awhile back. The issue is here for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks for reading and for the support.

iTunes: Seam: Autopilot
The Australian version of The City On Film "in formal introduction" CD is done and available over at Hobbledhoy, so pick it up with extra songs as an Import! It is the perfect induction to Australia for Bob who will be touring over there in August playing shows for the first time. Everything is in the works and we are excited for the tour, I'll let you know when dates are solidified!
The City On Film & Owen are again embarking on another Euro jaunt together this summer too. This will be a longer outing than last time and will start in mid-June and cover more ground. Details as they arrive.
There is a new band with the name Mainstay which was the name of my first sXe hardcore band in 1993, I think we might've played one show. The name has been taken by a christian rock band. I bet they'll have more success with it.

iTunes: Kings Of Convenience: I'd Rather Dance With You
Hello everyone. It is a gloomy day here in Milwaukee, the snow is nowhere near melting and it is cold! But there is a little sunny GTA related news for you: My new friend Tom over at Hobbledehoy Records is finally nearing completion of the Australian version of The City On Film release In Formal Introduction!
The news is new for nearly everyone, and I was a little hesitant to release the information considering we have had a little trouble acquiring the master, but it is now enroute. Thats good news because I could no longer control my excitement. The release is going to be really cool. The artwork will be the same as the US release with a few little changes to accomidate the 3 extra tracks that will be included. These 3 extra songs will be at the end of the album and will be taken from the limited website only Little Informal EP (GTA 20.5). So, it'll be 14 tracks in all. Exciting, no?
If you would like to get one, I'll have a very limited number available here after it is officially released, but you''ll have to email and ask nicely if you want one. They will not be available in the GTA store. Just a heads up.

Zune: Spoils of War: II
I feel the need to chime in as well and let you know that there was a new GTA release that was sorely overlooked. The new 20" / 9lbs 1oz release was delivered on 12/04/06. Jack David Fein is the title of the newest addition to the GTA family and we want to send out a belated "congratulations" to our co-worker Adam and his lovely wife Kelly on the birth of their son.

Can you believe how long it has been since my last blog? It is completely ridiculous. But, there has been no real label news and a lot of hard times over the last 4 months for me and my family. Sorry for the absence. I'll be making it up, I promise. There is good news though, I have finally finished college! I am stoked. I can finally cross it off the list. It has been a crazy long journey because my education was so rudely interrupted by a 10+ year rock and roll vacation. Kidding of course. Those were some of the best times, but it put my college timeline on the 14 year plan from start to finish. Crazy right?
Tommy: Did you hear I graduated? Richard: Yeah and just a shade under a decade. All right. Tommy: You know a lot of people go to college for 7 years. Richard: I know, they're called doctors.
Its pretty amazing I went back. It took some guts to do and honestly I can hardly believe it. I guess I still have no idea what I want to do other than have a decent job. Continually throughout life they ask you what you want to do with your life. I still don't know. Playing music didn't work out. So, I guess I want to sit around, blog, surf the web, and collect and listen to records all day. Is there a job for that?
Have you heard the new Channels record? It is soo good. Bless you J. Robbins for continuing to bring it. You've been a good friend to both Braid & Hey Mercedes over the years. It is unfortunate that J's family has been going through some troubled times lately. It involves their son Cal. This is all over the web and most everyone knows about this, so I'll keep it short. I'd feel like a chump if I did not post something to the public though. If you would like to help or know more, please visit the Desoto site here.
It is spring cleaning time again at the Bell house. Lots of stuff up on eBay with more to come. Records, DVD's, CD's and more. Check it.
Propers go out to my friend Peter Ellenby for releasing his first photo book! It is titled Every Day is Saturday and is packed with fantastic pictures of bands. Lots of good stuff: live shots and portraits. Peter has been a big contribution in the San Francisco area for many years. He was also kind enough to lend GTA the Hey Mercedes band photo that was in the Unorchestrated EP (there is also a picture of HM in his book dating back to 2001). Please check out his book for sale over at Amazon. Also he will have a showing for the book in Brooklyn starting February 1st. For more info on that, including location, go here.
Well. Lots to do today, including a trip to the dentist which I'm dreading. More later.
